Breast Augmentation
Whether you choose implants or fat transfer, Dr. Cassileth delivers augmentation that looks and feels like you — just enhanced.
Overview
Breast augmentation remains one of the most popular cosmetic procedures in the world — and one of the most personal. The right result depends on your anatomy, your goals, and the skill of your surgeon.
Dr. Cassileth offers both implant-based augmentation and fat transfer augmentation. Implants provide predictable volume and shape. Fat transfer uses your own tissue for a subtle, natural enhancement. Many patients combine both approaches.
With thousands of augmentations performed, Dr. Cassileth focuses on proportional, natural-looking results that age well and feel right.

What Are the Types of Breast Implants?
Breast augmentation offers various implant options to suit different aesthetic goals and body types. The type of material inside the implant significantly affects its look and feel.
Standard Silicone Implants
Standard silicone implants are filled with a thick, jelly-like silicone gel. Known for their soft texture, these implants are often favored for their natural look and feel. However, they may show rippling, particularly in thinner patients with less breast tissue to provide coverage. Dr. Lisa Cassileth uses advanced techniques to minimize these concerns and deliver beautiful results for her Beverly Hills breast augmentation patients. For patients with less breast tissue who want standard silicone implants, combining with fat transfer to the breast can give fuller, more natural results.
Highly Cohesive Silicone (Gummy Bear) Implants
Also called "gummy bear implants," highly cohesive silicone implants are firmer and maintain their shape even if the shell is damaged. These implants are less likely to ripple compared to standard silicone, making them a great option for patients with thinner frames. Dr. Cassileth often recommends gummy bear implants for their durability, natural contour, and ability to provide long-lasting results.
Soft-Touch Cohesive Implants
Soft-Touch cohesive implants strike a balance between the firmness of gummy bear implants and the softness of standard silicone. These implants have slightly less cross-linking in the gel, resulting in a softer feel with relatively low rippling.
Responsive Cohesive Implants
Responsive cohesive implants offer the softest feel among cohesive silicone options. These implants are ideal for patients prioritizing a natural look and feel but may be more prone to rippling due to their lower cohesivity.
Saline Breast Implants and the Ideal Implant®
Saline breast implants are a popular choice for breast augmentation due to their affordability and customizable size. These implants are filled with sterile salt water, making them safer in the rare event of a leak. However, saline implants are more prone to rippling, especially in patients with thin breast tissue. A newer innovation, the Ideal Implant®, addresses some of the limitations of traditional saline implants. With internal structural layers, the Ideal Implant reduces rippling and sloshing, creating a more natural look and feel. This advanced option combines the safety of saline with the aesthetic benefits of silicone.
Motiva®: The Next Generation of Breast Implants
Dr. Cassileth also offers Motiva® implants, an advanced option for patients seeking enhanced comfort and safety. These implants use innovative materials to provide a soft, natural feel with minimal rippling and improved durability, making them an excellent choice for modern breast augmentation in Beverly Hills.

FAQ
Common questions.
Do Breast Implants Cause Cancer?
The FDA has reported that a very rare cancer of the immune system, ALCL (anaplastic large cell lymphoma), has been linked to textured breast implants. ALCL is not breast cancer; it is a distinct lymphoma that is highly treatable, and the risk is extremely low, occurring in between 1 in 2,207 and 1 in 86,029 women with implants. It is treated by removing the implant and the surrounding capsule. Dr. Cassileth does not use textured implants for augmentation. Breast cancer itself has not been linked to implants, and implants do not make breast cancer more likely or delay its diagnosis on mammograms or ultrasound.
What Are the Risks of Breast Augmentation?
Any surgical procedure carries some risk, but you can reduce the chance of complications by working with a highly qualified surgeon and choosing the best implants for your needs and goals. While rare, possible complications include infection, bleeding, or implant rupture. Your surgeon will review all potential risks and benefits with you during your consultation appointment.
What Will My Scars Look Like After Breast Augmentation?
Your scarring will depend on your incision placement as well as factors such as your skin type, genetics, and skin care routine. Dr. Cassileth uses advanced techniques when placing sutures to minimize visible scarring.
Can I Get Breast Augmentation Without Breast Implants?
Breast implants are the most effective method for breast enlargement. However,
natural breast augmentation with fat transfer
is an option for patients seeking subtle breast enhancement without implants.
Will Insurance Cover Breast Augmentation?
Breast augmentation for cosmetic purposes is not covered, as health insurance does not cover cosmetic surgery. Some insurance plans may offer some coverage for certain types of reconstructive surgery. The Practice Healthcare offers financing options for breast augmentation surgery.
Can I Breastfeed With Breast Implants?
Many women who wish to breastfeed after breast augmentation are able to do so. Studies have found that women who had the ability to breastfeed before surgery are able to safely breastfeed with breast implants.
