COLLAGEN INDUCTION THERAPY WITH RF ENERGY
Microneedling in Los Angeles at The Med Spa at The Practice can refine and refresh skin. This minimally invasive treatment is safe for all skin types and colors. The concept behind this skin rejuvenation option is simple: When wounded, the skin begins a healing process that produces more collagen and other essential elements. Microneedling takes advantage of this by creating numerous incredibly tiny channels in the treatment area, each triggering an automatic response that closes the opening and improves the quality of the surrounding tissue.
From the single premise comes a variety of options. Microneedling can be performed on its own or for enhanced results, combined with radiofrequency energy or collagen induction therapy. Overall, microneedling can improve the look of fine lines, deeper wrinkles, acne scars, stretch marks, skin tone, hyperpigmentation, sun spots, and pore size. It can also smooth out texture irregularities. In contrast to other treatments—like fillers or peels—microneedling provides lasting results that your own skin has generated through the healing process.

Microneedling With Skinpen
The SkinPen device we use for microneedling at The Med Spa at The Practice is the first and only FDA-approved microneedling tool. The SkinPen uses fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries that soften signs of aging (such as fine lines), fade acne scars, minimize pores, and generally improve skin texture for a more youthful and refreshed appearance. These micro-injuries also allow for improved absorption of medical-grade skincare products applied during and immediately after the treatment for quicker healing and smoother, firmer, and more even-looking skin.
Microneedling With Collagen Induction Therapy
Collagen induction therapy is made from powerful components found in your blood that promote wound healing. At the beginning of a microneedling with collagen induction therapy treatment, a small blood sample is taken from your body and spun through a centrifuge, which separates the valuable platelets from the rest of the blood. Since collagen induction therapy is derived from your own body, unwanted side effects are virtually eliminated.
This collagen induction therapy can be applied directly to the skin during and immediately after a microneedling procedure. The microchannels created by the treatment provide direct pathways into the deeper layers of skin for optimal healing and overall rejuvenation. This allows your skin to absorb the most potent healing properties from your own blood to heal and improve itself from the inside out.
Morpheus8 Microneedling With Rf Energy
Morpheus8 pairs microneedling with radiofrequency energy by using the tiny needles to create microchannels and deliver radiofrequency energy deep into the skin, prompting your own skin cells to repair and remodel more efficiently. The resulting natural healing response promotes production of new collagen and elastin to firm and remodel skin. This treatment can be used anywhere on the face, neck, and body, including the abdomen or buttocks. RF microneedling is also a “colorblind” technology, meaning it’s safe for all skin types and tones.
What sets Morpheus8 apart from similar devices is that its heat can reach deeper dermal layers, and the treatment depth can be adjusted to address specific skin concerns. This customizable approach to microneedling is especially effective for improving the appearance of lines and wrinkles, tightening lax skin, smoothing out rough or uneven texture, treating hyperpigmentation and acne scarring, helping to fade stretch marks, and even reducing some fat.
For ideal results, we recommend three Morpheus8 RF microneedling sessions spaced four to six weeks apart.
All microneedling treatments have some side effects, including temporary redness, swelling, and discomfort in the treatment areas, as well as possible pin-prick marks that will fade away on their own. Since new collagen takes time to develop, results appear within a matter of months.
Aquagold Micro-Channeling
A variation on traditional microneedling, AquaGold microchanneling plumps and rejuvenates the skin by penetrating its surface and delivering injectable products to improve its appearance.
The AquaGold device was designed to effectively deliver products into the skin without pain. It uses 20 patented micro-channeling needles, each thinner than a human hair. No numbing is required, whether used on the face, neck, or chest to treat wrinkles, dark spots, poor texture, and other signs of aging. There is no bleeding and no downtime. This device is perfect for patients who desire a refreshed, glowing look on a tight schedule.
An AquaGold session lasts 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the areas being treated and the products being used. Although there are no visible wounds after the treatment, the process does involve fine needles penetrating the skin, so the area should be kept clean according to your provider’s aftercare protocol.
Results take about a week to develop and peak two weeks after the treatment. We recommend a series of at least six sessions, with maintenance sessions every few months to maintain ideal results. However, microchanneling can be a one-time treatment for anyone who wants glowing skin for an upcoming event.
What Products Can Be Used In Conjunction With Aquagold?
BOTOX® applied to the skin itself (not the muscle) helps shrink pores on the face. This is the only recognized treatment that has an actual physical effect on pore size. Growth factors stimulate the skin to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, increase elasticity, and enhance texture, tone, and luminosity on the face, neck, and chest. Pigment reducers curb the skin’s melanin response to sun exposure. Combined with sunblock and sunscreen, this approach can reduce discoloration on many exposed areas.
Dermal filler applied to the lips with AquaGold can subtly plump a patient’s pout, making the treatment perfect for patients who are not ready to commit to injectable fillers. Microchanneling with filler can also smooth the skin and provide a more even skin tone.
Microneedling And Men
Men’s skin is not like women’s, which means skin rejuvenation treatments should be tailored to each man’s specific needs. This includes microneedling, which can also benefit hair restoration treatments when paired with collagen induction therapy at our Los Angeles practice. By stimulating cells and allowing collagen induction therapy and powerful supplements to absorb more readily into the scalp, microneedling can boost natural hair growth for a fuller, denser look. This approach is most effective on areas with thinning hair, which can fill out with new growth. Note that it is not intended to jump-start growth again in bald patches or on a hairline that has already receded.
Microneedling, whether for collagen induction therapy, hair restoration or rejuvenating skin, can be incorporated into a Man Plan designed to cater to male-focused cosmetic goals. Talk to a member of Dr. Cassileth’s team to find out what options are available.
What Skin Rejuvenation Options Are Available Beyond Microneedling?
Chemical peels can kick-start collagen production and allow for better absorption of serums and other products by removing the outermost layer of skin, as opposed to creating micro-channels. Cassileth Plastic Surgery also offers facials, microblading, intense pulsed light (IPL), and laser skin resurfacing to create a smoother surface and provide other benefits.
All of these non-surgical options improve the look and texture of the skin, making them great options alongside treatments that address contours, such as CoolSculpting® or Kybella® for fat reduction, as well as surgical procedures like facelifts, brow lifts, fat grafting, and liposuction.
We can find the ideal combination of treatments—including the most beneficial microneedling technique—to suit you.
