Restore And Rejuvenate With Injectable Dermal Fillers In Los Angeles

Injectable dermal fillers are ideal for patients who would like to restore a youthful appearance without cosmetic surgery, as well as those who would like to extend and optimize the results of facial plastic surgery. Collagen loss is a common factor contributing to signs of aging, and dermal fillers can address the shifting contours and development of lines and creases that are caused by a loss of collagen.

The Med Spa at The Practice team has advanced training and many years of experience administering a range of injectable dermal fillers in order to meet the unique needs of individual patients, ensuring each and every patient looks natural and never like they’ve had “work” done. Each filler has specific characteristics and provides particular benefits and our experts will recommend a cosmetic treatment plan to meet your goals.

How Do Dermal Fillers Work?

Dermal fillers, sometimes called soft tissue fillers or wrinkle fillers, are made of soft gel-like formulas that work in several different ways. Fillers can restore lost volume, subtly change the contours of the face, and fill in wrinkles. Hyaluronic acid fillers use HA, a hydrating substance that occurs naturally in the body.

Who is a Good Candidate for Dermal Fillers?

If you want an effective, non-surgical solution to treat visible signs of aging, dermal fillers may be right for you. Ideal candidates are in good general health and are committed to a healthy skincare routine.

Preparing for Injectable Treatment

Injectable fillers are typically a quick, in-office treatment, and minimal preparation is needed. You may be advised to avoid alcohol and blood-thinning medications, such as ibuprofen, for several days before your appointment.

Your Dermal Filler Treatment

At your consultation or the beginning of your injectable filler appointment, we will discuss the amount and type of filler that will be used to meet your specific goals. Your provider will cleanse the area to be treated and use a thin needle or cannula to carefully place the dermal filler injections. Many dermal filler formulas contain an anesthetic called lidocaine, which ensures your comfort during treatment.

Recovery After Injectable Treatment

No downtime is needed after treatment, and most patients resume regular activities right away. However, you should refrain from intense exercise or strenuous activities for 48 hours after your filler appointment.1

Types of Dermal Fillers

JUVEDERM®

There are several different options in the Juvederm® line, all based on hyaluronic acid, which bonds to water in the skin to provide hydration and volume. Specialized formulas, including Voluma XC, Volbella XC, Vollure XC can address wrinkles around the mouth, vertical lines above the upper lip, a down-turned mouth, hollowing in the cheeks and temples, thinning lips, and deep folds and lines near your nose and mouth.

RESTYLANE®

The Restylane® line of dermal fillers treats facial wrinkles and folds, provides subtle lip enhancement, smooths lines around the mouth, and adds lift and volume to the cheek. It also helps reverse signs of volume loss in the back of the hands. The Restylane formulas, including Restylane Lyft and Restylane Silk, are also based on hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body that gives skin its fullness and elasticity. As we age, hyaluronic acid and collagen quantities deplete, causing deep folds and wrinkles in areas that used to be full.

RADIESSE®

Radiesse® is a water-based dermal filler filled with calcium-based microspheres (calcium hydroxylapatite) that stimulate your body’s collagen production. This treatment is ideal for deep wrinkles that can make you look and feel much older than your age as they develop from several factors associated with the normal aging process: facial fat loss, decreased elasticity, collagen reduction, and gravity. Radiesse® treats wrinkles and lines, including nasolabial folds and the creases that extend down from the outer corners of the mouth to either side of the chin.

RHA®

As the first and only FDA-approved Hyaluronic Acid indicated for dynamic facial wrinkles and folds, RHA® addresses many signs of aging we see in the face such as collagen and volume loss, hollowing, and loss of definition. RHA® is designed to be resilient enough to adapt to your facial movement and uses a gentle manufacturing process with few chemical modifications making it a “cleaner” filler than others available. Using fewer chemical modifications helps preserve the natural structure of the HA, allowing it to mimic the natural HA found in your skin, resulting in a more natural-looking and feeling filler.

SCULPTRA®

Sculptra® Aesthetic is a different type of dermal filler, more accurately described as a “collagen stimulator”. The formula is based on poly-L-lactic acid, which prompts collagen production for more gradual and subtle contouring results that can last for years. Each injection contains the same material used for internal, dissolvable stitches but in an injectable form. Injections can address nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and chin wrinkles.

Frequently Asked Questions About Dermal Fillers

While any cosmetic procedure presents some risk potential, serious side effects from dermal filler treatment, such as allergic reactions, are extremely rare. Common side effects are usually mild and temporary and include redness, tenderness, or bruising at the injection site.2

The longevity of your results will depend on the amount and type of filler used and the area treated. Results typically last several months to a year. A procedure such as a facelift is ideal for more dramatic and longer-lasting results, while fillers are ideal for anyone who wants more subtle and temporary changes.

Our dermal filler experts use a range of filler types in order to meet a variety of needs. We will discuss your goals in order to recommend the filler that is best for you.

Patients often combine dermal fillers with wrinkle relaxing injectables for more comprehensive rejuvenation. BOTOX® is ideal for treating wrinkles that form due to muscle activity as opposed to collagen loss. Other options for addressing facial aging include laser skin resurfacing and chemical peels to smooth fine lines and even tone, enhancing the look of areas treated with dermal filler.
