Improve Your Skin's Appearance In Los Angeles
At The Med Spa at The Practice, we help a wide variety of people who want to reduce discoloration and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, even out skin texture irregularities, and achieve a radiant glow. For patients who want all these effects but don’t want a laser treatment, chemical peels at our Los Angeles practice are an effective option.
Chemical peels work on two levels: They cause the outermost layer of dead (and often discolored) skin cells to slough off to reveal fresh, new skin while simultaneously penetrating into deeper skin layers to trigger collagen production that transforms skin at a cellular level.

How Do Chemical Peels Work?
Each chemical peel is unique, but they all have a similar treatment protocol: A carefully chosen solution is applied directly to the skin and left on for a predetermined amount of time. Chemical peels use different forms of acid to prompt skin rejuvenation and vary in strength. Light peels have no downtime, while stronger peels have a longer post-treatment recovery time—but provide more dramatic results. Each of our exclusive chemical peel formulations targets different skin issues to ensure your aesthetic skin goals are reached safely and effectively.
At the end of a session, the solution is cleaned off. The treated skin will appear and feel slightly sunburned, with “peeling” starting in the following days. This reveals a younger, less-damaged layer of skin and prompts rejuvenating collagen-producing cells into action for more gradual improvements.
What Chemical Peels Are Available?
Skinceuticals Sensitive Skin Or “Red Carpet” Peel
This chemical peel results in smoother texture, decongested pores, skin hydration, and a more radiant look. It requires very little downtime as it typically causes one day of “pinkness” and mild flaking—if any. The “Red Carpet” Peel (named for limited to no downtime) is the perfect elixir peel to have two to three days before an event where you want to look your best, with glowing, radiant skin.
Skinceuticals 20 Or 30 Micropeel
The micropeel improves texture, reduces surface imperfections and the appearance of fine lines, and makes the skin appear more luminous. Downtime is two to five days and includes redness and mild flaking. This chemical peel should be applied one week prior to any special event to ensure all healing is complete, leaving you with refreshed, refined, glowing skin.
Skinceuticals Advanced Corrective Peel
A more dramatic peel, this advanced treatment reduces stubborn discoloration, uneven texture, and dullness while boosting clarity and radiance. Downtime is four to six days, during which you will experience moderate redness, temporary darkening and crusting of surface pigmentation, and moderate flaking and sheet peeling. It is vital that you allow your skin to slough off the old layer on its own time. Refraining from picking is critical with all of our peels at Cassileth Plastic Surgery. Choose this chemical peel to be applied at least ten days prior to an event where your skin needs to look radiant and smooth.
The Cosmelan Peel
The Cosmelan Peel reduces the appearance of skin discolorations brought on by hormonal imbalances, excessive sun exposure, and other triggers. Good for all skin types ranging from fair to deep tones, it regulates overproduction of melanin in the pigment-producing cells, inhibiting and controlling the appearance of new dark spots. This chemical peel is gentle, safe, and highly effective at reducing hyperpigmentation and melasma. During the healing process, your skin will feel tight and dry, followed by peeling of the damaged old skin, revealing refreshed skin free of hyperpigmentation and blemishes. Downtime is two weeks.
The Zo 3-Step Peel
The ZO 3-Step Peel is designed to remove the outermost layers of the skin and stimulate deeper layers for more profound benefits, increasing cellular function to create healthier skin from the inside out. It can improve acne scarring, melasma, sun damage, fine lines, texture roughness, large pores, and overall dullness. It also involves treatments to be applied at home after the initial in-office application. Post-session peeling can last for about five days.
Other Skin Rejuvenation Options
Peels are ideal for generating collagen for noticeable rejuvenation. At The Med Spa at The Practice, we also achieve collagen regeneration with microneedling, IPL photofacials, and various laser and energy treatments, including CO2 laser skin resurfacing.
