Morpheus8 and Microneedling: The Ultimate Duo for Youthful Skin

Everyone is talking about Morpheus8 and for good reason. The celebrity-endorsed skin tightening and resurfacing treatment is an effective, minimally-invasive facial rejuvenation treatment for those who aren’t ready to go under the knife.

To further enhance the benefits, I recommend patients undergo a combination therapy of Morpheus8 and microneedling. While each treatment is powerful on its own, performed together they work synergistically to produce a more targeted, customized approach, maximizing results.

What is Morpheus8 and what is microneedling?

Morpheus is a skin tightening and resurfacing treatment that uses microneedling and radiofrequency energy. The device delivers RF energy deep into the tissue, stimulating collagen production, and resulting in firmer, smoother, and more youthful-looking skin. Morpheus8 can be used on various areas of the face and body, including the cheeks, jowls, neck, and abdomen.

Microneedling, on the other hand, doesn’t use energy to induce collagen production. The handheld device has tiny needles that puncture the skin’s surface and trigger the body’s natural healing response.

As the skin heals, new collagen is produced, helping to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, acne scars, and hyperpigmentation.  It is a versatile treatment ideal for hard-to-reach, delicate treatment areas such as the eyes. It helps strengthen and firm thin, crepey skin, remodeling thick scars that help these areas better blend with the surrounding skin.

Why do these two treatments work so well together?

Morpheus and microneedling amplify the skin’s transformation and results. Morpheus must be treated within safe limits of the energy applied and the number of passes onto the skin to reduce the chances of adverse reactions with hyperpigmentation.

Microneedling immediately after Morpheus provides additional skin resurfacing that is safe for all skin types to intensify the skin remodeling and produce greater results than Morpheus or microneedling alone.

Who is a good candidate for this treatment?

Morpheus and Microneedling combination therapy is generally safe for all skin types. It’s best for those who have mild to moderate skin laxity and texture issues looking for a non-surgical alternative to a facelift.

What happens during the treatment?

To start, we’ll take extensive before photos of the patient before their appointment. After that, a topical numbing cream is applied and will need to stay on for at least one hour before we begin the treatment.

During the numbing phase, the patient is verbally prepped on what to expect post-treatment and how to care for their skin. They will also receive written instructions with recommended products to maximize the results.

Once patients are fully numbed, Morpheus is performed first and immediately after we do microneedling. The treatment itself takes about an hour.

What results can I expect from Morpheus8 and microneedling?

Patients can expect a noticeable transformation that includes tighter, smoother, firmer, brighter, glowing skin. When performed together, the two treatments will also help patients reach their skin goals faster.

What is the recovery like?

Patients are informed before the treatment begins to expect their skin to look like a sunburn afterwards. The skin will feel warm, tight, and a little swollen. Depending on how intense the treatment is applied, patients can expect to recover within a week. The skin will be swollen and pink for the first few days and dramatically start to look normal after 3-4 days.

We suggest booking a facial with one of our talented aestheticians seven days post-treatment to exfoliate and rehydrate your new luminous skin.

How long after my Morpheus8 and microneedling treatment will I see results?

Initially, patients will see an improvement in their skin texture as well as a reduction in sun damage and pigmentation. It takes 6-8 weeks to see the tightening effect.

It’s recommended patients receive three treatments, four weeks apart, so it takes at least three months before you’ll experience the full results. Staying on schedule and receiving each treatment within the 4–6-week window helps compound the effects of collagen induction.

Since each patient’s skin goals are different, we have some who add a fourth or even fifth session because they love the results so much!
